Lands of America recently had almost $4 billion in land and other rural acreage for sale in the Cowboy Country, which covers nearly 555,000 acres of land for sale in the state. Of the 77 counties in Oklahoma, Oklahoma County had the most land and farms for sale. Based on comps submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program in February, Oklahoma is among the country's top five states for land sold during the month. This reflects an 18 percent change in sales activity over the previous month, with a combined land value of $22 million for all property and land sold in the state. The most land sales in the state last month were had in Latimer, Pittsburg, and Pontotoc County. Oklahoma covers a diverse landscape that incorporates 12 distinct ecoregions. Hunters and outdoor sports people can enjoy some 1.6 million acres of wildlife management areas throughout the state, while anglers get their pick of 35 major lakes covering over a half-million acres. The state has also been ranked among the ten best states for the cost of living by U.S. News & World Report. In terms of size, Oklahoma is the country's 20th-largest state, covering an area of 69,903 square miles (45 million acres). In total, 68,595 square miles covers land area, while the remaining 1,304 square miles is made up of water. Game species to be found on land for sale in Oklahoma include whitetail deer, turkey, hog, ducks, dove, and quail. Anglers have their choice of bass, catfish, and walleye.
