Internal data from Lands of America shows more than $4 billion in land and other rural acreage for sale in the Cowboy Country. The combined size of land for sale in the state is more than 540,000 acres. Of Oklahoma's 77 counties, Oklahoma County had the most land and rural real estate for sale. Based on comps submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program last month, Oklahoma is among the country's top five states for land sold during the month. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from the month before. The most land sales in the state last month were recorded in Latimer County. Oklahoma covers a diverse landscape that incorporates 12 distinct ecoregions. Hunters and outdoor sports people can enjoy some 1.6 million acres of wildlife management areas throughout the state, while anglers get their pick of 35 major lakes covering over a half-million acres. The state has also been ranked among the ten best states for the cost of living by U.S. News & World Report. In terms of size, Oklahoma is the country's 20th-largest state, covering an area of 69,903 square miles (45 million acres). In its entirety, 68,595 square miles is made up of land, while the remaining 1,304 square miles is made up of water. Game species to be found on land for sale in Oklahoma include whitetail deer, turkey, hog, ducks, and dove. Fishermen can enjoy casting for bass, catfish, and walleye.
