Approximately two miles of roads and trails provide access to the entire ranch. Weaving through the woods, around hillsides, across the creek and through the meadows, these pathways are ideal for riding and provide windows through the woods for wildlife viewing. A half acre pond is excavated into the woods on the north side of the high point. This clear water pond is completely surrounded by woods and has a small trail leading down to it.
The slopes are generally forested with normal sized hardwoods for this area and act as a great bedding and feeding area for wildlife, especially deer. The bulk of this area is solid timber and extends north to within 1000 feet of the river. Thus, this spot is especially attractive for recruiting transient bucks from the river bottom onto the property as they travel the South Canadian corridor. It would be an ideal spot for establishing feeders along the small trails that run through it.
As you travel west on the property, the slope gently descends toward an unnamed, clear water creek. This area has several open meadows that would be ideal for food plots. In addition to deer, food plots could be managed for wild turkey that roost in the sycamores and oaks that grow alongside the creek.
The name of the ranch gives away the most impressive feature of the property. It has a truly beautiful stand of massive oak trees growing along the creek. The combination of the deep channel, white sand bottom, clear water creek and the massive oaks is magical. No, they aren't sequoias but they are magnificent examples of some of the largest oaks you will ever see in this part of Oklahoma. The circumference of the largest one is somewhere around 13 to 15 feet based on our tree hugging measurements. There is something awe inspiring about large trees and this area of the property pulls you in. The peaceful little creek with its moss covered rocks and banks lined with massive tree roots just makes you want to sit down and enjoy the moment for a while. If you are looking for a place to decompress you probably will want to spend some time here.
Old Oaks Ranch is ideal for someone who can look past a few oil wells to see and appreciate the beauty of the vast majority of the property. If you are also the type of person who is always looking for a great deal, then the low price of the ranch will certainly excite you. If you are looking for a great combination of natural beauty, great location, trail system and views at a great price, then Old Oaks Ranch might just be the one for you.
